The way it works is in a typical trivia night, There are 5 rounds that have 10 questions per round. Each correct answer awards your team one points, which can add up to a maximum of 50 points if you play a flawless game.
But the excitement doesn't end there. There's more. NYC Trivia League adds an added layer of fun with its bonus point system. Each day the top 25 teams get additional points. The highest 10 teams earning bonus points and the next 15 receiving 3. The following week, the top 50 teams also receive bonus points, with the top 25 receiving 10, and the following 25 receiving five.
To calculate your overall score for the league, we calculate your initial score and adjust it according to a scale of 100 points, in consideration of the bonus points 15 that are available every week. For instance, a perfect basis score 50 is multiplied 85 times, and the bonus points are added to potentially make it a total of 100.
This point system adds an element of competition that is engaging to our trivia nights. It is not only a way to reward knowledge, but also consistency in thinking strategically.
